I remember my first few years of home schooling, we followed the traditional school schedule and had two weeks off for Christmas. I know I have said this before, but I LOVE Christmas. I love thinking about Jesus’ birth and His sacrifice for me! I love the gatherings with friends and family, and I love the opportunity to share Jesus with those who don’t know Him. Being off for the last two weeks of December was definitely not enough time to get all my Christmas prep done! So we would take the whole month off! I was reading in Ephesians and was struck by Paul’s prayer request, Ephesians 6:19-20, “and pray on my behalf, that utterance may be given to me in the opening of my mouth to make known with boldness the mystery of the gospel, for which I am an ambassador in chains; that in proclaiming it I may speak boldly as I ought to speak.” Wow! Paul wanted prayer to be a bold witness for Jesus! I want that too! Here is an idea, think of ways you and your children can share Jesus during this Christmas season. For me I write a Christmas letter that includes the gospel message. I told my daughter that it may be the only, ‘Jesus’ many of my relatives and friends ever hear about. You never know when God will use our words to strike a chord in someone’s heart, especially as we pray for softened hearts to hear from Him! Here are some ideas: Bake cookies with your children and take them to your neighbors with a Christmas track; offer to help an elderly neighbor to do a chore and in that share Jesus’ love; be a witness to those at stores and even on the road, letting people in front of you with a smile; help feed the homeless; pray, and ask the Lord for opportunities to share Him and His love with others.
