This year is flying by way too fast and at times I feel that my life is running at such a fast pace that I just need to step off the merry-go-round and regroup. I came across this verse in Psalms and it really spoke to me:
“I wait quietly before God, for my victory comes from Him.
He alone is my rock and my salvation, my fortress where I will never be shaken.”
Psalm 62:1
When God allowed my back to go out recently, and I had a couple weeks of recovery, I was forced to rest and be still. I realized that I need to schedule in times of just sitting and being quiet before the Lord. He has an amazing plan for each of our lives. Even though I have a quiet time with Him each morning, on many mornings it is way too rushed, or I am thinking of the 7 ’next things’ instead of focusing on what He is telling me.
Home schooling, laundry, house cleaning, making meals, driving your children from activity to activity can take up so much time and energy, but through all we do, God is the one that gives us victory. We must wait quietly before Him. If you feel that your life is going at 80 MPH and you are frazzled and harried, then put on the brakes. This verse shares that, “He alone is my rock and my salvation, my fortress where I will never be shaken.” If we are living in His will we should have peace through our days.
Re-evaluate what you are doing. Have you volunteered for too many events? Have you added too much to your plate? Have you consulted God with your plans and are they within His will? What can you cut out? Are you on social media way too much? Have your priorities gotten way out of whack? If you can say’ yes’ to any of these questions then take some time, soon, to be quiet before the Lord. Pray and ask Him to reveal to you what needs to go and what needs to stay. I am not telling you this because I have this down. So many times I am guilty of ‘too fast a pace’ life and I need to put on my own brakes and re-evaluate what I am doing.
Remember, the priorities of our lives should be God first, our spouses second, and our children third. If these are out of balance then we need to consult the Lord and reorder our lives. If you are feeling that your life is frazzled and harried please take time to jump off the merry-go-round, sit quietly before the Lord, ask for His wisdom, pray for His peace and He will give you the victory!!
