I am just loving this beautiful Spring weather! Cool mornings and balmy days have been wonderful! However, I am just bracing myself for the dreaded summer heat! I pray these balmy days are helping you and your students to continue pressing on to complete this school year strong.
What’s next? It is the dreaded question that most Seniors are pelted with at this time of year. For some the answer is easy. They have had a passion for something that God placed on their heart, maybe as early as 5 years old, and that flame is still alive with that interest today. For others, they are not sure of the direction God has for them and there are many questions in their minds. Actually, all of us can say this. As moms and dads we can know that the next steps of our journey will probably be a continuation of where we are today. If we have a job it will probably still be there tomorrow. With your home schooling, if you are not graduating your last student, you will be praying for wisdom for next year’s curriculum and direction for each of your students. For your students, their journey changes just by way of the fact that they advance to the next grade and their studies may be harder and different. No matter what, all of our journey’s will continue.
I remember when I was home schooling and anticipating the end of our home schooling journey, I mistakenly thought that once my students graduated from high school my role of mom and teacher was done. Nope! The journey continued and my relationship with my children continued to grow and change. They still needed my direction at times but I also joined the, ‘duct tape club’ because as they moved on with their journey there were things God was teaching them that they needed to learn on their own.
Numbers 9: 15– 17, 23 teaches us, “Now on the day that the tabernacle was erected the cloud covered the tabernacle, the tent of the testimony, and in the evening it was like the appearance of fire over the tabernacle, until morning. So it was continuously; the cloud would cover it by day, and the appearance of fire by night. Whenever the cloud was lifted from over the tent, afterward the sons of Israel would then set out; and in the place where the cloud settled down, there the sons of Israel would camp….At the command of the Lord they camped, and at the command of the Lord they set out; they kept the Lord’s charge, according to the command of the Lord through Moses.” Our lives are much like the Israelites during the time of Moses. God directed their lives and took them on the journey that He wanted for them. At that time, the Israelites. “kept the Lord’s charge according to the command of the Lord.”
What we need to learn from them is that God has each of us on a journey. As they kept the Lord’s charge, we are to do the same. As they obeyed the Lord, He directed them and abundantly blessed them. Isaiah 1:18-20 admonishes, “Come now and let us reason together,” says the Lord. “Though your sins are as scarlet, they will be as white as snow; though they are red like crimson, they will be like wool. If you consent and obey, you will eat the best of the land; But if you refuse and rebel, you will be devoured by the sword.” Truly, the mouth of the Lord has spoken.” God wants our obedience and in turn He has amazing blessings. Trust the Journey God has you and your student’s on. It is by no means over until we see Him face to face.
